1920-1930

Realistic painting tries to describe life as it is. Litvinovsky mostly engaged in this art movement at the beginning of his artistic career, namely in the years 1920-1930. Some believe that his realistic works were better than the rest of his work. He himself grew tired of them and turned to other avenues: expressionism, modern, abstract, and existential painting (including "The Root of Life" series). There were no realist paintings left in his estate, so the Litvinovsky association appealed to the general public via the press to locate these works. Many responded, and the association sent its notable photographer - Roni David "on tour" around the country to photograph the realistic paintings, which can now be viewed on this website.
